Clermont County Township Association Meeting

Date:   October 15, 2015

Host:  Clermont County Sheriff’s Department

Meeting was called to order:   Mrs. Batchler called the meeting to order at 6:40 pm and thanked everyone for coming.  She then asked everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance.  Mr. McGee led the opening prayer.  Dinner was then served.

Opening remarks:  After dinner Sheriff Rodenberg talked about his plan to retire at the end of 2016 and also briefly addressed the heroin problems in Clermont County.  He then introduced Chief Deputy Steve Leahy, who he has worked with for over twenty years, to talk more about the severe heroin problems all over Ohio and especially in Clermont County.  There are tips on the Sheriff’s website on how to protect yourself from people on heroin.  He also handed out a Crime Trend Report showing where the criminal activity is taking place in the county.  Chief Deputy Leahy said that the heroin is coming from Mexico.  He feels that the borders between the US and Mexico must be secured.  Meth problems will be the next thing coming this way.  In all of 2014 there were 68 overdose deaths in the county.  As of July 2015 there have already been 50 overdose deaths.

Motion to approve meeting minutes:  A motion was made by Bob Pautke seconded by Guy Bainum to approve the September 15, 2015 minutes.  Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report:  A motion was made by Tom Peck and seconded by Skeets Humphries to approve the treasurer’s reports from October 2015.  Motion passed.

The next meeting will be held:  The next meeting will be held on November 19th Williamsburg Township.

Other comments and suggestions:

The Christmas dinner will be held on Monday, December 7th at Campbell’s Barn on Ohio Pike.  This is the same place where it was held last year.  The only change will be that we are asking members to make reservations and pay in advance.  This way the Association will not be paying for more dinners than needed.  The cost will be the same as last year, $15.00 per person with a cash bar. The dinner will start at 6:30 pm.

Guy Bainum is booking Steve Newman to be the speaker at the spring banquet.

Bonnie said that a committee needed to be formed to make nominations for the
CCTA officers for 2016.  Tom Peck made a motion that officers now holding the positions stay the same for 2016.  Matt Beamer seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Motion to adjourn the meeting:  A motion was made by Skeets Humphries and seconded by Guy Bainum to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed.
