Clermont County Township Association Meeting

Meeting was called to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by President, Bonnie Batchler. Sign in sheet recorded 32 in attendance. Ms. Batchler asked Bob McGee to say the opening prayer.
Opening remarks: Ms. Batchler introduced Randy Perry from Batavia Township. Mr. Perry introduced Jim Sauls and Bill Dowdney, township trustees, Jennifer Haley township fiscal officer and their newly hired township attorney, Dave Frey.
Ms. Batchler then introduced George Brown who talked about the Clermont Agenda for the Future.
Next on the agenda was Julie Nesbit from the Clermont County Health Department who talked about seasonal flu. Clermont County has been hit very hard this year by the flu. She brought flyers explaining what can be done to prevent the flu.
Dr. Brian Treon, Clermont County Coroner and Debbie Hawkins from the Clermont County Coronerís office talked about the increase in death in the past year due to heroin. In 2013 there were 57 drug related deaths and through the first ten months of 2014 there were 59 deaths. Dr. Treon explained that Clermont County does not have a morgue. Dr. Treon asked that all of the Clermont Townships have a process in place to take care of indigent deaths in their township.
Motion to approve meeting minutes: Motion to approve the meeting minutes from November 20, 2014, was made by Howard Daugherty and seconded by Lloyd Acres. All were in favor.
Motion to approve meeting minutes from the December 15, 2014 was made by Howard Daugherty and seconded by Tom Peck. All were in favor.
Treasurerís Report: November ending balance on the Treasureís report was $6,251.66. A motion to approve was made by Jim Sauls and seconded by Joyce Richardson. All were in favor.
December ending balance on the Treasurerís report was $5,550.01. A motion to approve was made by Guy Bainum and seconded by Joyce Richardson. All were in favor.
The next meeting will be held: The next meeting will be held on February 19, 2015 at Pierce Township.
Other comments and suggestions: Ms. Batchler stated that the officers had decided to limit the amount of money spent on meals for the meetings. The limit has been set at $400.00 per meeting. The remainder of the expense will be paid by the township hosting the meeting.
Mr. Perry made a motion seconded by Bill Dowdney that the township association donate $1,000.00 to the Rock and Roast event to be held on January 17, 2015, at the UC Clermont, to help raise funds for the Williamsburg-Batavia Hike Bike Trail project. All were in favor.
Ms. Batchler said that the first meeting for the Spring Banquet committee will be held on February 7, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. at the Batavia Township Hall. Each township is to provide one person to serve on the committee.
Every township needs to email Ed Humphrey with the names of the new officers.
Chris Smith said that he needs the Salute to Leaders candidate nomination sheet from each township. The banquet will be held at the Oasis on March 10th.
Skeets Humphrey reminded everyone about the OTA convention to be held in Columbus January 28th through the 31st.
Dave Uible reminded everyone to make reservations for the Lincoln Day Dinner to be held at the Oasis on February 17th.
Motion to adjourn the meeting: A motion was made by Howard Daugherty and seconded by Rick Hinson to adjourn the meeting. All were in favor.
