CLERMONT COUNTY TOWNSHIP ASSOCIATION OCTOBER 23, 2003
The meeting was held at the Clermont County Sheriff's Office and began at 6:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer was said.
The Sheriff greeted everyone and introduced Deputy Marc Sorbello who has been assigned special duty to locate "meth labs". The group was informed that "meth labs" did not exist in the county five years ago, but the Sheriff's Office has now seized eighty in the county and four outside the county. Some counties do not address this situation; therefore we have no record of how many exist in other areas. "Meth labs" often take place in households with children. Those children have to be removed and taken into a care system upon discovery. The drug is always made for their own purpose and drug needs, but sometimes can be sold as well. Persons using the drug become violent and have mental disturbances. Township Trustees were informed of the dangers that their maintenance workers may have upon finding tanks, jars, cans, foil, Sudafed containers etc. during their work day. These items are used for the making of this drug and contain chemicals that could explode causing a person to be burned or to die. The Sheriff will try to get a brochure for distribution to better inform persons. The phone number 625-2806 was given if anyone suspects they have found or detected evidence. Evidence can be fingerprinted.
Roll call of officers showed Ed Humphrey, President, Virgil Pollard, Vice-President, Minton Christman, Treasurer and Sandy Graham, Delegate present. Joyce Richardson, Secretary, was absent.
